Bulova Accutron electronic cyclical timer complete with uninstalled new battery. This Bulova Accutron device is very similar to the Vietnam era 214 type aircraft clock only minus the day counter. This rare timer / clock measure 45mm by 20mm deep and has not been used since manufacture! Built into the case is a set of contacts capable of switching non-inductive loads up to 30 vdc at 10ma. Unlike many other space-age devices, the Accutron timepiece was developed solely as a consumer item (at Bulova expense), although it has since been used in many important applications in the united states exploration of outer space.
Designed as the TEII series, these timers were designed for use in industrial or laboratory cameras, they were capable of various switching intervals from 1 second to 24 hours, or any combination. Like all Accutron movements they were guaranteed within 2 seconds a day and weighed only 1.5 ounces. Because of their compactness and its Accutron 214 movement they could be used in remote locations and required no maintenance or adjustments for one year.
Operation is effective in temperatures ranging from minus 40 degrees 80 Deg C. and could be used in a high vacuum. According to Bulova these units resist shock in any direction to at least 1, 000 g. Only 600 of these rare units were manufactured. How many remain in NOS? Runs perfect! $500 each obo. I only have two. Questions/Photos? Questions? hlbart@aol.com
