Cancer Death Statistics
The final numbers aren't in yet for 2005 but the following projected statistics have been posted by various reporting organizations:
Cancer deaths caused by or contributed to by smoking were estimated to be over 150,000 in 2005 alone, and the same staggering statistics apply to lung cancer deaths.
Cancer deaths caused by colon cancer (colorectal cancer) were estimated to be over 50,000 in 2005 alone.
Projected death estimates for other types of cancer, such as breast cancer, are equally disturbing.
But what may be more disturbing than those statistics is the reality that experts say about 50% of cancers could be prevented, if a person changed their lifestyle and if better screening tests existed for finding cancer more early than has been possible up until now.
