The old Victorian Tradition says that the Sixpence MUST be placed in the bride's left shoe for the wedding. It is said to bring a lifetime full of Good Health, Happiness, Luck and Prosperity to the happy couple.
When the sixpence was abolished as a British coin denomination more than 35 years ago, the last line of the famous wedding rhyme was dropped from many wedding guides and the tradition has been changed to include other coins, but this is the ORIGINAL WEDDING SIXPENCE and we are pleased to keep the tradition alive and offer these to you.
The coins, which we import directly from England, vary in dates, but all coins in our Keepers are in excellent condition!
This Sixpence keeper is an adorable little brown puppy that is wearing a red bow tie. He has shiny black eyes and a shiny black nose.
He measures approx: 2 1/4 tall, 1 1/2 deep, and 1 3/4 wide.
After the wedding, the coin may be returned to its adorable keeper
as a lovely reminder of the Bride's Special Day!
Sadly, the English sixpence is a coin of the past. The LAST Sixpence
was minted in 1967....Yet we are pleased to keep the tradition alive and
offer these to you.
