WEDDING SIXPENCE & DARLING TURTLE KEEPER

This is an adorable Turtle Keeper that is made of a very soft velvety
material. The body of the turtle is a light brown color and the shell is a
hunter green color. Whenever the turtle is moved, so do the eyes.
Inside, the keeper has a soft white slotted pillow on which to hold the
English Sixpence, and the lid is lined to protect from scratches. This
makes a wonderful gift to give to the Bride-to-be before her wedding.
At just 1 1/5 high, 2 1/4 wide and 1 3/4 across, it's the perfect size
for safely tucking away in a jewelry box after the wedding.
The old Victorian Tradition says that the Sixpence MUST be placed in
the bride's left shoe for the wedding. It is said to bring a lifetime full of
Health, Happiness, Luck and Prosperity to the happy couple.
Something old, Something new, and a Sixpence for her shoe...was the
original rhyme. However, as Sixpence were no longer in circulation, the
last line of the verse was dropped. Since the Sixpence has not been
minted for over thirty years, the tradition has been changed to include
other coins, but the sixpence is the Original and Authentic coin to be
used, and we are happy to be able to bring them to you.
After the wedding, the coin may be returned to its Keeper as a lovely
reminder of the Special Day!
Sadly, the English sixpence is a coin of the past. The LAST Sixpence
was minted in 1967....Yet we are pleased to keep the tradition alive and
offer these to you.
The coins, which we import directly from England, vary in dates, but all
coins in our Keepers are in excellent condition!
Comes complete with a list of explanations of Wedding Traditions, and
a very beautiful Prayer for the Bride & Groom (many of our customers
report that after reading the beautiful prayer they were so moved by it
that they incorporated it into their wedding vows), and an individual
little gift box.
This is a wonderful way to start a tradition as the Sixpence is passed
from generation to generation. The coin will appreciate in both
setimental and actual value!
